And In the Left Corner We Have....Clomid, the Ovulator

***I have been quite busy lately and have not made time for blogging. Therefore, I am very behind and have oh so much to discuss with you all. If all goes to plan, there should be several posts this week.***

Clomiphene is the number one used fertility drug. For good reason too. It works...most of the time. Statically its great. Generally speaking and not quoting any specific data because there is plenty out there for your own research, about 80% of couples find success with clomid, meaning they ovulate not necessary end up with a baby in tow. I've seen numbers from 40-50% conceiving in the first 2-3 cycles on clomid. The numbers are surely on our side. Its really good at making women ovulate, me included!!

Yes, I ovulated!!!

That was fun to shout to the world.

So yes it worked, but....

Clomid sucks. I'm sure this can be said about many fertility drugs. I mean the fact that there are those of us out there that need it sucks all on its own, but then add the side effects.

I had....

nausea
headaches
nausea
fatigue
nausea
breast tenderness (like shooting pain....ouch!)
oh and did I mention nausea??

My mom told me to suck it up and get used to it, but its not fun to go through these symptoms before you're pregnant. I mean who loves wanting to vomit right in front of your preacher on Sunday morning. Not this gal.

I should probably take this moment to back the train up and clarify one more little detail
***rewind***

Yes, I ovulated, but NO, I'M NOT PREGNANT. Mike came home early from Colorado, but not early enough. I took the clomid in April 1) to see if it worked and 2) because it can take a couple months to kick in and we don't have time for that (more on the timeline to be discussed later.)

Okay sorry where were we?....Oh yes, I hate clomid, and yet here I am taking it again. Last night, it nearly killed me. So dramatic. Okay, well, it hurt at least. Clomid comes in pill form. The type of pill that looks like an aspirin, the non-coated, bad for your insides aspirin. Clomid taste nasty and starts to dissolve quickly due to no coating.

So I go to take my Clomid, Day 1 Round 2. It gets stuck in the back of my throat and starts dissolving. To which I started hacking and coughing trying to get the thing out or down, whichever direction will comply. It came back out on the counter, and I had to start over. The pill somehow burned a place on my throat (that makes me feel great about the chemicals I'm putting in my body.) Drinking water and orange juice and brushing my teeth did nothing to soothe the spot or remove the horrid taste in my mouth. My throat still hurt today as I ate.

Tonight I get a rematch, Day 2 Round 2.
